How To Maintain/Protect AC Servo Motors & Drives

Leave a message

AC servo motors and drives are common and widely used, and many common problems arise during their purchase and application. Neglecting maintenance during use can easily shorten the motor's lifespan, delaying production and leading to cost losses. By paying attention to a few key points in daily use, we can significantly extend the motor's lifespan. Therefore, today I will share some tips on how to maintain AC servo motors during use, hoping they will be helpful.

Daily Maintenance

1. Cleaning: Regularly clean the servo motor's casing and internal wiring to prevent dust and debris accumulation, which can affect the motor's heat dissipation and ventilation. Use a soft cloth or vacuum cleaner for cleaning; avoid using water or cleaning agents to prevent damage to the motor.

2. Lubrication: Servo motors require regular lubrication to reduce wear and friction and maintain stable operation. Before lubrication, carefully check the motor model and instruction manual, select the correct lubricant or grease, and clean and replace the lubricator as required.

Temperature Management

Servo motors are prone to overheating and damage during prolonged high-load operation. Therefore, the following points should be noted:

1. Installation Location: When installing a servo motor, choose a location with good heat dissipation, avoiding direct sunlight, enclosed spaces, or humid environments.

2. Fan and Heatsink: Check that the fan and heatsink on the motor are functioning properly to ensure adequate airflow and heat dissipation within the motor.

3. Cooling Methods: When overheating is detected, methods such as reducing the load, increasing airflow, installing a heatsink, or adjusting the operating speed can be used to cool the motor.
